Tom McCarthy is the Chief Engineer of Digital Engineering at Anduril with a focus on improving the speed and efficiency in how we develop products as the company grows. With more than 25 years in industry, he has experience on significant efforts spanning the engineering lifecycle from early trades and analysis of alternatives to architectural design through system test and evaluation. In his current role, he is responsible for the architecture and technical oversight of the Anduril Development Environment (ADE) which comprises the Digital Engineering Ecosystem, the workflows used within ADE, and the processes used to achieve rapid product development. Previously, he worked at Raytheon Missiles in Tucson where he served as Chief Engineer and Product Owner of the Digital Product Development team. While at Raytheon, he has worked in multiple leadership roles including as the director of the Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Center (MSA), deputy center manager for Advanced Systems Development Center, and lead engineer for an international consortium in pursuit of NATO Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) architecture development. Additionally, he has been simulation lead on multiple efforts. He holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
